The Official Bass Odyssey Release re: Recent Announcement Requesting Public Donations.
Kevin “SQUINGY” Bennett is a legend. There is nothing that can take away from his significant contribution to the development of dancehall globally through his involvement in the sound system industry.
We at Bass Odyssey speak as his family and home on behalf his friends, fans and well-wishers around the globe, that we are saddened at the fact that soon we could lose someone we have grown to love and in fact cherish as a musical idol in the whelm of selectors.
While as human beings it is within our nature to question the works of the Almighty we humbly request your prayers.
Bass Odyssey has always supported our staff and crew as can be witnessed by their own dedication and commitment to Bass Odyssey. Hence it is a grave acknowledgement that we must address an issue which for many years has been kept discreet in respect of and at the request of our famed member.
We will not itemize our contribution to the maintenance of his health as he is a part of our family.
On this note, we extend gratitude to everyone who has helped and continue to show support over the years.
Nevertheless, it is with great amazement that we have learnt publicly about the recent request for donations/funds as we were not contacted by the planners. We are further surprised at the public announcement of such a sensitive issue without our input.
This should not be an issue of public recognition, let us keep focus on what is important, Squingy’s health.
He is a father, he is a son, he is our brother and he is our friend.
We welcome the support and are willing to do everything in our power in the continued support for Squingy. It is of our opinion that an effort of this magnitude would gain more worldwide support if we unite, promoters, selectors, and artistes, anyone... we appeal to you. We therefore suggest that the planner get in contact with us for a unified mission.
